Ben, the Founding Director, qualified with a Dip Iuris (Justice College), B Proc, LLB (UNISA) and a Masters degree in Criminal Justice – LLM (UCT). His credentials include being admitted to the List of Counsel of the International Criminal Court in The Hague, and being a full member of the International Criminal Court Bar Association (ICCBA). With over 30 years of experience in criminal law, his expertise lies in Bail Applications, Criminal Trials, Appeals to the High Courts of South Africa, Supreme Court of Appeal, Constitutional Court, and International Criminal Law. In addition to his legal practice, Ben also shares his knowledge and experience by lecturing part-time in criminal law.
Josua obtained the following qualifications in commerce and law: BCom Hons (UPE), MComm (US), BProc (UNISA), LLB (UNISA) and BDP (US). He holds the position of Director and has Right of Appearance in the High Court. Josua has experience in all aspects of criminal litigation.
André completed his LLB degree at the University of the Western Cape in 2001. He has been practicing criminal law since 2002, and is an all-round experienced criminal litigator with a sub-speciality of his being immigration law and related cases. He has an affinity for drug-related offences, offences relating to contravention of the Marine Living Resources Act and immigration-related offences. Due to his vast experience in facilitating bail after-hours, he has built relationships with many of the role-players in the world of after-hours criminal litigation. William graduated from Stellenbosch University with an LLB and worked at a renowned wine farm in the Stellenbosch Winelands before commencing his articles of clerkship. After completing his clerkship with an established firm in Somerset West, he was admitted as an Attorney in 2011. Initially, his practice encompassed general civil litigation and criminal, but since 2014, he has focused primarily on criminal law. In 2023, William joined Mathewson Gess Incorporated, where his integration into the team was seamless due to his valuable skills and expertise.
Jack began his professional journey with MGIA in February 2022. Since then, he has completed his articles and successfully passed his admission exam to practice law. He is anticipated to be officially admitted as an attorney in early 2025.
